New Release Notification - PeerGFS v5.0
Peer Software is pleased to announce the General Availability of PeerGFS v5.0. This is a Major Release that is immediately available for purchase, trial download, and as an upgrade.
PeerGFS v5.0 includes multiple new features and enhancements to improve performance, usability, and security that are available to all Peer customers with active PeerLink and PeerGFS Software Maintenance and Support agreement. Features and enhancements include:
- Linux server support for the PMC service stack.
- Improved DFS integration, making it easier to tie namespaces to new and existing File Collaboration and File Synchronization jobs.
- Overhauled the PMC's logging engine with a focus on improving performance
- Upgraded Java to Eclipse Temurin 17.0.2 and upgraded dependency libraries
Introducing Premium Features for Subscription Customers
In addition to core product updates, PeerGFS v5.0 incorporates exclusive features and functionality for PeerGFS Subscription customers highlighted by Dynamic Storage Utilization (DSU), which incorporates advanced file caching to manage unstructured data growth and costs at edge locations.
Key DSU features include:
- Dynamically adjusting time periods for determining whether to stub or rehydrate a file, providing the best end user experience by keeping the assigned storage space as full as possible
- Direct integration with File Collaboration and File Synchronization job types.
- Point-to-point data transfer capability between one edge and one more or more masters.
- Flexibility to mix and match master and edge roles across different jobs
- Ability to "pin" files or folders to always be local or always be stubbed on the edge storage device.
- Alerts to monitor potential storage capacity limits.
As major new features are introduced in future versions of PeerGFS, we will clearly note if they are available only for subscription customers.
